About Me

I was born and raised in Connecticut.  I moved to California 8 years ago to be closer to my nephew, who recently turned 14.   In my spare time I love to read, cook, and hang out with family. I recently took up kayaking. I love being outdoors, and one of my favorite places is the beach.

I have a BS in Elementary Education and an MA in Special Education.  I received my education, and started my career in Connecticut and taught there for 7 years before moving to California, where I took a year off.  This is my 8th year teaching at FSUSD.  I have taught grades 4,5,7,8 and ⅘ combo classes.

As an educator I believe strongly in the power of collaboration, academic conversation, and peer to peer learning.  This means that there is a lot of small group instruction in my room, and a lot of differentiation occurs based on student needs.  Both reteaching and extension are common in my class.
